missing the point not once but twice (although it does seem to have got a bit action going here!)
'*' (why have you changed your name to a symbol?), did you notice the presence of this smiley:

in my post? Now, what do you think a happy smiley laughing face might
mean, in a post? Do you think perhaps it might denote that the person is expressing a sense of fun?
Maybe I should just quit trying to have a sense of humour around you, '*'. Never seems to work.
* wrote:anyway, the point is NOT that it's about women making music
Oh good, because it could seem on first impression that you were questioning the rightness of the part of the board where these artists are discussed being titled 'the music section' and your primary objection seemed to be that they were female singer-songwriters. Glad to help you clear up any confusion.
* wrote:so elizabeth, shame about the stupid remarks, as:
1) i think women are making great music, so no need for patronising remarks like 'only boys can make real music...' can you see how ridiculous that reads? very patronising.
I sincerely apologise for being stupid and patronising, Duncan. I'll try to improve myself so I can one day hope to reach the great heights of your intellect and completely unpatronising attitude. Perhaps you could try to aquire a sense of humour, too, and an ability for discerning when people are having fun? Might help you with that over-defensive paranoia thing you've got going there. [tup]
* wrote:2) since when have i talked about my favourite 'real' musicians here anyway (real? i deal in electronic music... that's not real, it's only machines, right?) - maybe back in 2003-4? every week since then of course.
So why don't you just start some threads for your favourite bands/artists, rather than pointing and sniggering at people for liking female-oriented pop/rock music? I seem to recall asking exactly the same thing of Dave. Go talk about what you feel passionate about! Complaining about other people's taste on the board is pointless and a waste of time, and also pretty patronising.
* wrote:indeed i haven't talked for a while here at all, and given that the remarks above seem to show that some people consider this forum to be now an exclusive club - the kind they wanted not to see come about - i'll probably now do exactly what is hoped for and disappear again. flaming is boring.
Oh boo-hoo. If you'd get a handle on your bloody over-sensitivity and crack a smile now and again, you might not have felt the need to take what is clearly signalled as a humorous contribution to the thread in such po-faced defensive earnest.
You were not 'flamed', you idiot. You were played with, in a jocular manner. If you want to take it some other way that allows you to disappear, go right ahead. I hope you'll get a grip and stay, the board misses you. [akiss]
* wrote:sorry elizabeth, but this time you're really out of order - always looking for (perceived) gender bias, even when there isn't one to be found.
I wasn't in the least out of order, and I don't have to look for gender bias, it's already there. Mind you, I don't know why I'm surprised, it's not the first time you've saddled me with that accusation when you're the one who's brought gender into it in the first place.
* wrote:and well-worded arguments are not what's need here. an apology would be nice.
Unlike yourself, I'm quite able to apologise when I feel I've done something wrong - I think there are one or two examples of that hereabouts. But I will not apologise for having a sense of humour, for being playful. I think it's you who owes me an apology, though I shan't hold my breath as I'm still waiting for the last one you owed me.

Ice, you were the one most tender with the rivers.
