Ah, OK, makes sense. So are the YeahYeahYeahs all-female too? I never knew.blue wrote: 'Wears The Trousers' was set up specifically to cover female artists, Dave.
For Chrissake..... Well, I'm not surprised. Is it all pop/rock women though? there are loads of women working in the jazz and classical fields,...and soul, r&b, world music, country....etc etc.blue wrote:The comment understandably provoked much disgust and a lot of discussion about the way female artists are covered in the largely male-dominated music press. 'Wears The Trousers' was the result. They've had some fantastic interviews with women musicians since they started, it's a good site for anyone interested in female artists.
No they're not, but Karen O is the creative powerhouse of the band. Other female-fronted bands are covered too.sound world wrote:

The overall premise is to cover female artists working in different genres, but understandably the focus is mainly on singer-songwriters working within the rock world, I guess because that's what the readership is largely interested in. You do find articles and interviews now and again with women musicians working outside that field though.sound world wrote: Is it all pop/rock women though? there are loads of women working in the jazz and classical fields,...and soul, r&b, world music, country....etc etc.
Oh well, I beg to differ, Paul. Anyway, at least Lady Gaga is absent from it-take away the visuals and attitude and there ain't nothing there...pgss wrote:Florence and The Machine are not overhyped Dave. They deserve to be on that list!![]()
Yes, I like some of 'Milk-Eyed' but everything since is a *tad*pgss wrote:Joanna Newsom is in the list with two albums (if I remember correctley she's the only one with two albums in the list). Both albums are in the top 25. Now that's overrated (although I do love some of her tracks).
But then you didn't have to spend half a term trying to teach it to an inept piano pupil.... [b)]blue wrote: 'Dog Days' is awesome.![]()
