I've never made any new year resolution in all my life, except this time indeed.

First, and yes, stop smoking. This can sound like a good clich?, except I began to smoke seriously about two years and a half ago in order to bear the smell of my dear wife's cigarettes, but also an occasion to jump over the other side of the smoker/non smoker idiom. Since the beginning, the idea was: she stops then I stops. She decides, so let's go.

Second, writing a novel, finally. After three short stories, about 50 poems/lyrics and multiple aborted novels spread over a time scale of about 17 years, let's make this a resolution.

Third, be myself. In fact this is an everday resolution. Rather difficult!

1 - try to be less pessimistic
2 - try to be less pessimistic
3 - try to remember 1 & 2 :D
I believe in your smile everyday
But I know that you're far from my way
When I talk to the moon I can hear you
In the dark I can see, I can feel your light

I like yours.Alex,I'll go with that!!

And it's great to hear that you'll be figuring more hereabouts,RobB!

Spook,I gave up smoking almost exactly five years ago and it's the best thing I ever did.Try reading Allen Carr's book 'The easy way to stop smoking' which helped me,a really hardened longtime smoker,a great deal.

My resolutions-
1) To give my partner a really brilliant significant birthday year
2) To find some means of paying for it :D

Hello everyone!

I haven't been around for a couple months, but I've been catching up on past messages today. It's good to read all of you again. Basically I have been focusing on my masters degree as well as music (writing about it and playing it.)

New Year's Resolution: To be more efficient with my time.

Now to revive some old threads!

Spook,

I've stopped smoking for various periods of time over the years - once for almost nine years straight - but the demon weed always gets the better of me eventually. Last January I gave up again, lasted till August. So I gave up again yesterday, but I've relinquished any hope of ever being able to beat it permanently. The best I can do is go for as long as I can each time.

My main resolution for this year is to leave home properly. :D :D My husband has been remarkably patient thus far, but I think if I don't move ALL my stuff into his place soon, and quit spending so much time in my old home, he'll be giving me my marching orders. :D

Other resolutions - to get myself more organised in my studying (hah!), and stop wasting time with things that aren't important any more, whether it be people, ideas, or habits. Tough one.
